Many
people are exposed to a variety of hazardous substances at work
that can, under certain circumstances, have a harmful effect on
their health. A hazardous substance can occur in many forms, eg
solids, liquids, vapours, gases, dust, fibres, fumes, mist and
smoke.
Under
the ‘Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations
(2002)’ employers have a legal duty, in the first instance,
to assess the risk to health created by work involving substances
hazardous to health (Regulation 6), and if required the employer
shall ensure that the exposure of employees to substances hazardous
to health is monitored in accordance with a suitable procedure
(Regulation 10(1)).
Airborne
Environmental Consultants (AEC) offer consultants who can carry
out exposure monitoring for all types of hazardous substances
in accordance with the latest monitoring methods and techniques.
On
completion of the exposure monitoring a full interpretive report
will be produced which, where appropriate all analysis results
will be related to current occupational exposure limits with recommendations
and advice on how to reduce employees exposure being made where
necessary.
