Occupational hygiene is often described as ‘The recognition, evaluation and control of chemical, physical and biological agents arising from workplace activities’.

Occupational hygienists understand how the presence of these agents within the workplace may affect the health of employees and in turn the health of the business.

Every year, in Britain alone, more than two million people experience symptoms of ill health believed to have been caused or made worse by work, resulting in approximately 33 million lost working days at an estimated cost to British society of £15 billion.

AEC can work with you through all stages of your occupational hygiene concerns including:

Recognition – identifying possible hazards, within the workplace, arising from processes, substances and activities.

Evaluation – on site monitoring in order to evaluate and assess any given substance or activity, with samples taken and analysed followed by the production of a detailed interpretive report comparing findings to any relevant current legislation.

Control – recommendations will be made where necessary with advice on possible control measures, safer working practices, personal protective equipment etc. and if/when re-assessment is required.
