Environmental Consultants

The work will involve initially training in asbestos air monitoring and undertaking tests for our clients. In addition you will from time to time assist lead Asbestos Surveyors to undertake surveys. For all aspects of asbestos work at AEC you will be trained to our UKAS standards and comply with current legislation before going into the field.

In addition to undertaking site works in various locations in the UK, you will also be expected to be involved with all aspects of asbestos – as follows:
1.  Working towards passing your S301 and P402 examinations
2.  Developing knowledge on air testing and recent changes to legislation e.g. 4 stage clearance.
3.  Complying with UKAS and undertaking your RICE counts.
4.  Assisting senior surveyors complete surveys on time and within budget.
5.  Booking samples into our lab and ensuring your samples are analysed within a given time frame.
6.  Developing your knowledge on where to locate asbestos in buildings.
7.  Understanding legislation that surrounds asbestos and its dangers in buildings to occupants, the different types of surveys on offer and our role in the asbestos industry.
8.  Ensuring survey kits and air monitoring equipment are stocked/replenished/clean for each survey / air test you undertake.

You will need to be flexible in your approach to work and willing to work weekends/nights and spend time away from home. The overtime rota is produced fairly so that everyone does his or her fair share of overtime.

You need to have a personable and team working attitude to work as part of the site team, coupled with eagerness and willingness to learn.

AEC would be interested in offering students placements over the summer and as part of a sandwich course.
