Who should attend: Health & Safety professionals, managers, supervisors and others with a responsibility for managing hazardous substances. Familiarity with COSHH would be useful, however a chemical background is not necessary.
Summary: This course will allow you to make confident decisions on air monitoring and inspecting and testing ventilation systems. The course will cover legislative requirements, understanding toxicology, recognising a hazardous substance, planning a monitoring programme and selecting the correct equipment. It will also go into detail on the fundamentals of local exhaust ventilation (LEV), selecting and using testing equipment, and planning a testing programme.
Qualification: On completing the course, delegates will have a good knowledge of the legislation in this area, understand the concept of toxicology in the decision-making process, have an overview of the methods for sampling airborne contamination to generate quantitative results, and have a good understanding of the basic concepts of airflow capture profiles and filtration. In addition delegates will have a practical insight into designing and carrying out an air monitoring programme and how to measure and review it. A certificate of attendance will be issued on completion of this course.
